Captain Universe / X-23 #1 is the third part in a five-part storyline based on long-forgotten novelty character Captain Universe. The plot is that Captain Universe is a sort of cosmic power that floats around and transforms ordinary people into Captain Universe so that they can fight evil. The plot justification is that the Uni-Power has been malfunctioning of late. It's wandering around bonding with various heroes so that it can copy their powers. Theorizing that a healing factor might give it the strength to repair itself, the Uni-Power attempts to bond with X-23, who is just incidentally walking by. But the Uni-Power didn't realize just how 
powerful X-23's healing factor is-powerful enough to resist its attempts to bond. Can the Uni-
